Jennies Basketball Signs Three to Recruiting Class

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Nov. 9, 2017) - Dave Slifer, Head Women's Basketball Coach at the University of Central Missouri, is excited to announce the signing of three to his early signing class for 2018.

Adria Costley from Mexico High School in Mexico, Missouri is a 5'8 guard. Under the direction of her high school coach and father, Ed Costley, Adria has already accomplished a great deal in her athletic career. In basketball, Adria has been a three time All-Conference selection and a two time All-District selection. During her junior year, Adria averaged 14 points, 3.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game. For her performance, she was named to the Missouri Class 4A All-State Girls Basketball Team.

"Adria is a player who can flat out fill a stat sheet", said Coach Slifer. "She also has a very high basketball IQ which she demonstrated in the spring and summer playing for Greg Logsdon and the Missouri Phenom out of Columbia, Missouri, one of the top club teams in our area. Adria and the team played at a very high level winning 30+ games and she just kept getting better and better throughout the summer. Adria has a very bright future."

Adria, the daughter of the aforementioned Ed and Kim Costley, is a member of the National Honor Society and also was a two time All-Conference volleyball player. Adria plans to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fashion and Apparel Merchandising from the Business Department at UCM.

Jordan Wersinger is a 5'7 guard from Kickapoo High School in Springfield, Missouri. Under the direction of the 2016 Missouri High School Coach of the year, Jim Pendergrass, Jordan has scored close to 1400 career points, shot 40% from the three-point line, and dished out over four assists per game. During that time, Jordan was named to three straight All-Conference and three straight All-District teams, while also leading her team to the 2016 Missouri Class 5 State Championship. For her efforts last season, Jordan was named to the Missouri Class 5 All-State Team.

"Jordan is a very special player", said Coach Slifer. "She has an old style mid-range game and can stop on a dime from 15 feet and score." "We like her feel for the game from the guard position and know she will thrive in our style of play. Most importantly, she is a better person than she is a player, and she's one heck of a player."

Jordan, the daughter of Jon and Jodie Wersinger, is a member of the National Honor Society and was named Academic All-Conference after her freshman, sophomore, and junior years. Jordan has played summer basketball for one of the top club's in the Midwest, the Missouri Valley Magic, coached by Gary Blankenship. Jordan's academic interest at UCM will be in the field of Physical Therapy.

Madison Cook, from Fort Scott High School in Fort Scott, Kansas is a 6'0 forward who can play all 5 positions of the floor. Under the leadership of Head Coach Pechone Stepps, Madison has been a 3-year starter and during that time was a unanimous First Team All-Conference selection as a junior. During her junior year, Madison averaged 15 points per game and nine rebounds per game and also set a school record for free throw attempts which helped her earn All-State recognition in the state of Kansas.

"Madison is a very versatile basketball player. She affects winning in so many different ways", said Coach Slifer. "Along with her basketball skills, she brings some very important intangibles: effort, enthusiasm, hard work, to the table as well. She's a great addition to our program."

Madison, a member of the National Honor Society and an Honor Roll student, is the daughter of Phil and Karla Cook. Doug Karleskint, Head Men's Basketball Coach at Central Missouri, played for Madison's father, Phil, for one season at Fort Scott Community College. Madison is undecided on what she plans to study at UCM.
