WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Dec. 19, 2017) - No. 10 Central Missouri put a bow on 2017 with an impressive 79-53 win over in-state rival Rockhurst. The win is the Jennies sixth in a row and moves them to 9-1 in their first 10 games.
How It Happened
• Central Missouri scored the first points of the game and never looked back, leading for 39:38 of the contest.
• For the second time in three games, the Jennies shot better than 50% from the floor going 29-for-57 (50.9%). They held the Hawks to just 31.3% shooting.
• The Jennies had a big advantage in the lane, scoring more than half of their points, 40, in the paint. They also won the rebounding battle 40-32.
• Central Missouri finally saw some of their three-pointers fall. Seven in total as they shot 38.9% (7-18) from behind the arc.
• Ten different Jennies scored at least two points as the bench contributed 20 points.
• UCM looked strong out of the gates, getting ahead 8-3 and then again 16-8. The Hawks fought back and though they never took the lead, trailed by just one, 18-17, after 10 minutes when Kaci German went 1-2 at the free throw line in the final seconds.
• It was still a two-point lead in favor of the home team, 24-22, midway through the second when the Jennies switched their defense to a zone. From that point on, the Jens outscored the Hawks 13-2 in the final 4:39, including the final 11 points of the half.
• The stretch continued into the second half with UCM scoring the first five points, taking an 18-point lead, 44-27.
• UCM dominated the middle frames, outscoring the Hawks 43-13 in the second and third periods. RU went a combined 5-28 during the two quarters while the Jens were 17-32.
It Was Over When
• It was a slow burn for the Jennies who poured it on in the middle of the game. From the 3:47 mark of the second quarter until the 6:51 mark of the fourth, Central Missouri outscored Rockhurst 46-9.
Jennies Stat Leaders
• 
Kelsey Williams and 
Paige Redmond each scored a game-high 16 points. Williams was 7-10 from the field with two triples and six rebounds. Redmond also sank two from beyond the arc and was 4-4 at the FT line.
• Fleming picked up another double-figure game, her fourth straight with 12 points. She scored five of those at the free throw line.
• 
Kayonna Lee scored 10 and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
• Redmond also led the team with five assists.
• 
Sydney Crockett added seven points, 
Megan Skaggs five points and 
Sydney Skaggs six. Crocket and 
Megan Skaggs also grabbed four boards each.
For the Hawks
• Madeline Ronshausen attempted 10 three-pointers and made three of them. She scored 15 points to lead RU. 
• Jillian Myers scored 14 and had three assists along with five steals. 
• Katelyn Parkey and Mary Leigh Rock each had a team-best five rebounds. Ronshausen grabbed four.
