Jennies Basketball Stays Put at No. 11

LILBURN, Ga. (Jan. 3, 2017) - For the second straight week, Jennies Basketball is the No. 11 team in the country as decided by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). The Jennies have been ranked in all seven polls this season.

After two weeks at No. 10, the Jennies fell one spot to No. 11 in the last poll of 2017, despite a win over Rockhurst. The 9-1 Jennies stayed put at No. 11 in the first poll of 2018.

UCM hasn't played since that Dec. 19 game against the Hawks. They've won six straight games and are 3-0 to start the MIAA season.

The top five teams remained unchanged from the previous poll, however numbers four and five flipped. Ashland picked up all 24 first-place votes and are the No. 1 for the seventh straight week. West Texas A&M and Indiana (PA) remain second and third and Carson-Newman bumps up to No. 4 while Lubbock Christian goes down to No. 5.

Central Missouri isn't the only MIAA team in the top-25, but they are the highest ranked. Central Oklahoma is ranked 16th.

The Jennies have also continued to move up in the D2SIDA Media Poll. Central Missouri climbed two spots from No. 14 to No. 12 this week. The same five teams are in the top-five as the WBCA Poll, though in a different order. Ashland is still No.1 followed by Indiana (PA), Lubbock Christian, Carson-Newman and West Texas A&M. No other MIAA team is in the top-25 or receiving votes.

UCM plays their first games of 2018 this week as they host Fort Hays State Thursday at 5:30 pm. and Nebraska-Kearney Saturday at 1:30 pm.
