SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (March 13, 2018) - No. 10 Central Missouri Jennies Basketball have clinched their first NCAA Regional Championship since 1989. The Jens had to take on host and No. 1 seed Augustana but were more than up to the task, thumping the Vikings 81-42.
How it Happened
• Central Missouri was lights out from the field, shooting 48% from the floor and were 12-28 (43%) from three.
• The defense was just as impressive as the Vikings shot just 24%. They didn't make more than four field goals in any period.
• The Jennies held a large disparity in rebounding at 45-29. They also pulled down 12 offensive rebounds and scored 13 second-chance points.
• UCM didn't have much of a problem with the Vikings press defense, committing just 11 turnovers, two in the second half. The Vikings average more than 20 forced turnovers per game.
• Central Missouri scored on their first four possessions and went on top 9-0 in just over two minutes of action.
• A three from
Megan Skaggs at the 4:56 mark gave the Jennies a 15-point lead, 17-2. They closed the first period ahead 17, 24-7.
• The listed attendance of 1,274 all fell quiet as the first half came to an end, outside of a group of UCM fans. The Jens led by 25, 42-17.Â
• The game was never in doubt in the second half. A pair of free throws from Skaggs with 3:24 left in the third quarter gave the Jennies a 30-point lead, 51-21. She also gave the Jens a 40-point lead with free throws late in the fourth quarter.
It Was Over When...
• The message was sent early in this one as the Jennies hit hard out of the gates and hit often. It took just 5:04 for the Jennies to have a 15-point lead, 17-2. UCM had four three-pointers, three from
Megan Skaggs and one from
Paige Redmond.
Jennies Stat Leaders
• Skaggs and Redmond were the dynamic duo each scoring 20 points. Skaggs was 7-11 from the field, 4-5 from three and 5-6 at the free throw line scoring 23 points. Redmond nailed five triples and was 6-14 for 22 points.
• Skaggs also had nine rebounds while Redmond added seven and three assists.

Kelsey Williams joined in on the three-point party knocking in a pair and scoring seven. She had a game-high five assists as well.

Kayonna Lee scored five points and came down with nine boards while also passing out five assists and swiping two steals.
• The Jennies bench scored 18 points with seven coming from
Sydney Crockett and six from
Jolene Shipps.
For the Vikings
• Allie Koehn led Augie scoring eight points, going 2-4 from three.
• Logan O'Farrell scored seven points and grabbed a game-best 10 rebounds.
• Paige Peterson scored six and had five boards.

• The win is the Jennies seventh regional championship in team history and first since 1989.
• UCM moves to 7-2 all time in Regional Championship games.
• The Vikings averaged 80 points per game this season. Their 42 points were a season low.Â
• Two from the Jennies were named to the All-Tournament team,
Paige Redmond and
Megan Skaggs. Redmond was named the Tournament MVP.Â
• The Jennies finish the season at 10-0 in true road games. The first time in their history going undefeated on the road.Â
